Greetings

Welcome to the April newsletter from River Heights Physiotherapy.

Spring yoga classes at River Heights Physio

We are  happy to say we are going forward with the yoga classes this spring!
Unfortunately Amanda Coe is no longer available this session. She realized her current students were eager to start in person classes again and feels she needs to offer a class to them first.
She was able to find us another amazing instructor, Cheryl Hnatiuk who is an Occupational Therapist by day and has taught Yoga for many years in her spare time. She is excited to offer classes at the clinic for us!

We have settled on two class times and dates, Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 and Thursdays 7:30-8:30.
These will both be active classes with a combination of flow style yoga and deeper stretches
They are for people who are confident in their mobility but can be people new to yoga as well.

For our patients that are experiencing issues with mobility i.e those who may require a chair,
are not able to bend forward at the waist to the floor or are not able to weight bear on their arms in
partial plank, we are also offering a gentler Stretch and Strengthen classes Fridays from 5-6
with one of our Physiotherapists Jessica Ness. This will not be a Yoga class but will offer yoga type
stretching for those that are able, elastic band and body resistance strength exercises.
Modifications will be made for those that need to sit for the class.

For all of the classes the fee will be $15 per class for 7 weeks totaling $105.
For the spring session we will start classes the first week of May (2nd, 4th and 5th),
ending the second week of June (13th, 15th and 16th).
If you are interested in reserving a spot please email us back at amanda@rhphysio.ca

Tennis Boosts Health

Tennis is a full-body sport that is enjoyed by many. Although players don't engage in physical contact, overuse and repetitive strain injuries are common. Proper stretching technique and form while playing help reduce the risk of injury.

Understanding Tendon Problems

We are constantly on our feet, and if we're not careful, awkward movements can lead to chronic tendon problems. One of the most common tendon injuries occurs in the posterior tibial tendon—located inside the bump of the ankle.

EAT WELL

Combining nutritious foods can create mouthwatering dishes rich in flavour and nutrients. Here are two low-calorie recipes.

Heart-Healthy Fish

Heart-healthy fish is loaded with nutrients that provide countless benefits. In addition to being highly nutritious, salmon is easy to prepare and cooks quickly. Add a little honey, minced garlic, spices, soy sauce, and orange juice for a zesty delight the entire family will love.
