Amanda McLean

Amanda McLean
Physiotherapist / Owner

Amanda is a graduate of the University of Manitoba program and has been practicing physiotherapy since 2005 in both rural Manitoba and Winnipeg.  She started working in private practice with Heather Howdle in 2007, began her partnership with Heather Howdle in 2009 and took over sole ownership in 2010. In 2014 she took on another business partner, co-worker Mandy Connell.

Amanda's vision is to use her many skills to successfully treat her patient injuries/conditions and also give them the tools and education they need to maintain a pain-free and healthy lifestyle. She has taken multiple continuing education courses in the areas of Vestibular Rehabilitation, Concussion Management, Jaw/TMJ therapy, Orthopedic Manual therapy, Myofascial release, and is licensed to practice Acupuncture. Amanda is also trained in Stott Pilates Instruction.

In Amanda's spare time, she enjoys leading an active lifestyle with her family; husband Tyler, son Hayden and her dogs Nala and Molly.

Mandy Connell

Mandy’s university career began while on a tennis scholarship at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. She returned to Canada to complete her physiotherapy degree from the University of Manitoba in 2000, and has worked in private practice physiotherapy since then. In 2009 she began working at River Heights Physiotherapy and in 2014 she joined Amanda McLean as co-owner.  She became a Certified Fitness Instructor in 1995, for over 20 years taught a variety of fitness and yoga classes. More recently she has taken up pickleball! Her passion and knowledge in sports, and exercise instruction have been invaluable to her physiotherapy practice. 

Since the beginning of her career Mandy has followed current research and has done many continuing education courses to enhance her expertise in treating orthopaedic injuries from head to toe. She has advance training in treating jaw disorders, and has built up an extensive and rewarding practice in this area.   Mandy is licensed to practice acupuncture and is trained in the management of osteoporosis. Consequently, she applies a wide variety of treatment techniques in the areas of manual therapy, specific therapeutic exercise, acupuncture, and education.

Mandy feels strongly about promoting the profession of physiotherapy. On multiple occasions she has been invited to educate other health care professionals about the role of physiotherapy in treating the jaw.  She has taught back care education and exercise classes and educational seminars for walkers and runners.

Mandy enjoys treating clients of all ages and physical activity levels. She believes in empowering her clients to take an active role in their rehab, and teaching them how to take care of their bodies in order to live long, healthy, active lives.   

Megan Silcox

Megan Silcox

Megan graduated from the University of Manitoba at the top of her class in 2005. She spent the majority of the first part of her career at Pan Am Clinic. There she gained experience treating patients of all ages and activity levels, with both acute and chronic conditions. In 2012, Megan and her husband left Winnipeg and moved down to Peru for a couple years, returning in late 2014. They settled in River Heights, where they now live with their two young children.

Over the years, Megan has pursued continuing education in many fields including manual therapy, exercise prescription, neuropathic pain, biomechanical foot assessments and custom foot orthotics. She is also licensed to practice acupuncture and prefers to use a multi-faceted approach to helping her patients recover from injury to reach their full potential. Megan enjoys the teaching aspect of her profession and believes strongly in the value of educating her patients about their condition/injury, helping them take ownership of their recovery and play an active role in it.

In keeping with her choice of profession, Megan's hobbies have always centered around active living. Running, road cycling, yoga, and walking the beautiful streets of River Heights help keep her busy when she isn’t working.

Jessica Ness

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba.  Her joy for physiotherapy began while playing soccer for Manitoba, she greatly valued the profession and wanted to be able to assist individuals in a way she once was. Besides soccer Jessica has a passion for track and field, basketball, and for half marathon running.
Jessica believes in a holistic approach to client centered care, combining myofascial release, mobilizations, manipulations, exercise and education in the rehabilitation programs individualized for each client. Jessica is very passionate about helping her clients return to what they love doing by empowering them through improving their physical literacy and assisting clients in taking an active role in their recovery. She loves working with clients of all ages, especially clients with low back and knee pain.
In her free time Jessica enjoys staying active by going to the gym, running, hiking, and playing soccer.  She also enjoys staying up to date on fun new exercises for clients to try.

Jess Kirshner

Jess graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology before completing her Master's of Physiotherapy. She has a love for all things health and wellness and is eager to share this passion with her clients.
Jess has special interests in the areas of manual therapy (hands on therapy), exercise prescription, and assessment and treatment of jaw disorders.
In her free time, Jess enjoys leading an active lifestyle by going on frequent nature walks and attending weekly yoga classes. She is also proud to be a part of a local Israeli cultural dance group that performs around the city. Her experience and passion with yoga and dance along with her active lifestyle inform her physiotherapy approach which emphasizes holistic wellness and movement as essential components of rehabilitation. Jess strives to empower clients to restore balance, strength, and mobility while fostering a mind-body connection that promotes sustainable healing and overall well-being.

I have been a student of Yoga since 2002 & have been fortunate to study with Jan Debenham.  Over the years I have practiced with other wonderful teachers, including Donald Moyer, Fr. Joe Pereira, Shauna Ellerby, Sandra Stuart, Richard Rosen, & Louie Ettling.  

I love sequencing beginner level classes & finding those little surprises along the way that make movement within reach for all.

You can expect an active asana practice along with glimpses of breath direction, meditation & from time to time, restful Yoga Nidra.

Brenda Comaskey

Brenda has practised yoga as a student for the past 20 years and always dreamed of being a yoga teacher. She completed her 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Centre Winnipeg in 2018 and is working toward her 500 hour certification. She has taught in various community settings throughout Winnipeg. Brenda teaches a gentle flow class using alignment, the breath and tuning in to the body's wisdom. She believes yoga should be accessible to everyone and provides a range of modifications for different bodies and capacities.​​​​​​

Annabel Scott

Annabel is Manitoba Fitness Council certified, Stott® Mat and Reformer certified, Stott® Injuries and Special Populations certified, Gyrotonic® certified, Yamuna Body Rolling®certified, MELT®Method Hand & Foot and fully MELT Method trained on the MELT roller. Annabel specializes in coaching and empowering clients with therapeutic and restorative needs such as back pain, injury recovery, arthritis, cancer, headaches, fibromyalgia and obesity to name a few. Annabel’s passion is to encourage all people to be curious about not expecting and accepting pain, stress and the negative effects of aging in their lives and bodies. She is excited to help people change the way they think, differentiate their pain and process their thoughts differently so that they feel better and meet their wellness goals.
